Jose's Story
Landeros began his career 30 years ago as a construction assistant in Houston, Texas. Over time, Landeros amassed a wealth of knowledge in interior and exterior coatings, which included custom interior and exterior applications of synthetic stucco. This vast experience allowed for more custom and decorative projects.
In 1998, Landeros completed a large-scale project for Kemah Boardwalk (Kemah, TX), which included a large sculptural fountain, an octopus sculpted with styrofoam, and a large tree made of concrete for the Kemah Boardwalk gift shop. This project paved the way for his desire to continue to do custom work, but with new techniques.
Landeros was excited to learn how to create new art using concrete and styrofoam at an advanced level. On his new journey, he worked in a historic building in Beaumont, Texas. Years later, he was commissioned to work in Katy, Texas using his knowledge of concrete, Faux Bois, Venetian plaster, and stone/brick imitation. Since then, Landeros has been practicing his craft and honing his Faux Bois skills, attending seminars, and learning from other craftsmen such as Carlos Cortez. Cortez is a third-generation Faux Bois maker. He continues to work on numerous residential and commercial projects and builds custom pieces for his gallery and personal collection for sale.
“I follow the path of destiny, as nothing is written in stone and knowledge is waiting for you at every stage of life so long as you are perceptive and open to receive it.”
